Description
Goddess Kali Pose is a standing pose that embodies the strength of goddess Kali. Goddess Kali is regarded as a destroyer of evil forces and a figure of power over evil. She is a protector and one who can bestow liberation, upon her devotees. This pose improves balance and focus, help boosts confidence and empowers oneself to overcome fears.
Preparations of the pose include prone butterfly hip stretch, frog pose with the blocks under the knees, spider pose hips stretch, standing hip and thigh stretch against the wall.
To go into the pose, stand in Tadasana. Slowly turn the feet sideways and open the legs until you bring the heels straight under the knees. Keep the hips parallel to the floor. Slowly raise the arms up with elbows bent in 90 degrees.
If there is difficulty in balancing, this pose can be practised against the wall or on chair support.
